Connecting Arts 2: A Follow-Up Networking Event

Buffer Zone
On May 25, 2024, the Technical Committee on Culture hosted “Connecting Arts 2,” a follow-up networking event held in the buffer zone. Building on the success of the first “Connecting Arts” event in June 2023, this gathering brought together approximately 60 Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot artists, along with art writers, critics, curators, and other cultural professionals, to further strengthen and expand the connections established previously.

Video and Drawing Competition

Chateau Status Restaurant
On March 4, 2023, the Technical Committee on Culture organized the "Video and Drawing Competition" at Chateau Status Restaurant. This initiative aimed to engage children and youth with the island’s cultural heritage by inviting Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot participants to create artwork and videos inspired by 22 selected cultural heritage sites across the island.
Poetry in Times of Coronavirus

From July to September 2020, the Technical Committee on Culture organized the "Poetry in Times of Coronavirus" competition, an initiative aimed at capturing the emotional impact of COVID-19 through poetry. The project resulted in a short video featuring 10 self-recorded poems, five from Greek Cypriot poets and five from Turkish Cypriot poets, providing a platform for personal reflections on the pandemic.
“In Culture We Trust”

Ledra Palace Hotel
On February 3–4, 2020, the Technical Committee on Culture hosted the “In Culture We Trust” Art Exhibition at the Ledra Palace Hotel. Funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in coordination with OSASG-Cyprus, the event showcased a collection of paintings by Greek Cypriot artists, alongside audio-visual material from the CyBC archives related to Turkish Cypriots. These cultural artifacts were exchanged as part of confidence-building measures mutually agreed upon by the two sides.
